Elementary school is a tough time in the lives of many children. Most kids report a lot of boredom at school. They hate homework and would rather be playing outside. Although recess is fun, most of their time is spent doing some things that they find boring. Perhaps this is a good idea given that some kids will end up doing a job they don’t like! However, shouldn’t elementary school be a time when kids have some fun? Obviously you need to teach them some critical skills, but it is also important for them to enjoy themselves. One way to do so is to encourage their creative side. If kids are given an opportunity to express themselves and control a creative product you will find that they enjoy school much more. Regular creative projects will dramatically change the way elementary school kids think about learning. Because most kids love animals it is a good idea to integrate this love with their creativity. Although most kids don’t know how to draw animals they can learn to color them. Described below are some of my favorite animal coloring crafts for elementary school.
Ability to recognize colors, Constant use of different colors as they color different pages will enable them to know and can comfortably tell which color is which. It also teaches them color combination from a very early age and by the time they grow up, they could have become masters in the act of effectively combining colors.
Cowboy coloring book pages take every play time activity of cowboys and cowgirls and puts it on paper. It’s fun and exciting to see kids unleash all their creativity with just a drawing and some crayons. And with a cowboy theme, there’s nothing better! There are tons of printable cowboy coloring pages on the internet. Download pages and color in a saddle, a chuck wagon, or a pair of cowboy boots and you’re just getting started. Enjoy hours and hours of fun with your kids coloring cowboy pages.
Create your own animal contest. Have the children color various animals in whatever way they like. If a child wants to color a monkey purple allow them to do so. Then cut up various parts of the colored images. Cut the body parts off of the animals and place them in a pile on a table. Then have the kids assemble animals out of the parts. The final product will be a remarkable and weird compilation. This exercise usually really gets the kids laughing as they create funny and weird animals.
Rapid Knowledge of things, Like already said picture lessons are easily retained by children more than any other thing. When they have pictures to color (say an animal), they take notice of the lines, shape, form and names. This will help them recognize such picture next time they see it. Easy recognition of things helps build their overall knowledge with time.
Don’t wash your hair! I know some of these dyes available to the public tell you to apply on clean hair only. That’s one thing that makes me angry. You can actually burn your scalp if you wash and dry your hair right before you apply permanent color. Hair dye processes fast with heat. Washing and drying your hair gets the blood flowing in your scalp, producing heat. This is how you can burn your scalp. If your scalp is itching shortly after applying the color, then your scalp is either burning or you could be allergic to the chemicals.
Builds Creativity, Giving children the liberty of coloring pages to print is a hug opportunity for them to show what they are really made off. Not only is it an avenue to express themselves, it also allows them to come up with different colors they feel could match hereby building and stimulating their creative sense. Inside their minds, an imaginary world has been created by them and each time they have the privilege of having pictures to color, they see it as a set free to reproduce that imaginary world on the outside.
